Agartala | Sunday, Dec 21, 2025: The Tripura Pulse Polio Campaign 2025 was officially set into motion today, marking a significant step in the state’s ongoing commitment to public health. Coinciding with National Immunization Day, the campaign seeks to ensure that every single child under the age of five receives the life-saving “two drops.”

Health Secretary Kiran Gitte inaugurated the state-level drive at the Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Agartala. During the ceremony, officials emphasized that while India has been polio-free since 2014, the mission to stay that way requires constant vigilance.

State-wide Launch of Pulse Polio Campaign 2025 in Tripura

The Health Department of Tripura has mobilized an impressive administrative and medical force for this year’s drive. According to Saju Vaheed, the Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) Tripura, the Tripura Pulse Polio Campaign 2025 aims to reach a total of 3,40,874 children.

To achieve this ambitious 100% coverage, the government has established 3,409 vaccination booths. These booths are strategically located in schools, Anganwadi centers, hospitals, and transit points like bus stands and markets. To ensure the process runs smoothly, 13,636 trained vaccinators and 682 supervisors are working on the ground today.

District-wise Breakdown of Vaccination Targets

The Tripura Pulse Polio Campaign 2025 drive is spread across all eight districts of the state. West Tripura carries the largest target, followed closely by Dhalai and Sepahijala.

What if you missed the booth? Door-to-Door Drive Details

For parents who were unable to take their children to the booths on Sunday, December 21, the Tripura Pulse Polio Campaign 2025 has a “mop-up” plan in place.

On December 22 and December 23, health workers and ASHA volunteers will conduct an extensive door-to-door campaign. They will visit every household to identify children who missed their Sunday dose. If you see health teams in your neighborhood on Monday or Tuesday, ensure your child gets the vaccine, even if they have been vaccinated previously.

Why is this campaign still important for Tripura?

A common question among parents is why we still need the Pulse Polio drive if India is already polio-free. The answer lies in our geography. Tripura shares a long international border, and health experts have noted recent polio cases in some neighboring countries.

“The risk of cross-border transmission is real,” stated a senior health official during the Agartala press briefing. “As long as the virus exists anywhere in the world, every child in Tripura remains at risk. These two drops are the only shield against lifelong paralysis.”

Quick Facts for Parents:

  1. Safety: The Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) is 100% safe and approved by the WHO.
  2. Eligibility: Every child from age 0 to 5 must receive the drops.
  3. Cost: The vaccine is provided completely free of charge at all government booths.
  4. Frequency: Even if your child received a dose recently in a routine check-up, these campaign drops are necessary for “herd immunity.”

How to Support the Drive?

As a resident of Tripura, you can help by spreading the word in your local community. Ensure your neighbors are aware of the door-to-door dates and encourage them to cooperate with health volunteers.
