In a powerful display of disaster preparedness, Tripura conducted massive civil defense mock drill across all eight districts, aligning with a nationwide emergency readiness initiative. The main drill unfolded at the historic Umakanta Academy School in Agartala, while sirens ringing near the Chief Minister’s residence caught public attention and added a sense of urgency to the simulation.

To support the operation, electricity in parts of Agartala was briefly suspended from 5:30 PM to 5:40 PM, a move approved by the administration and executed by the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL).
Dr. Vishal Kumar, District Magistrate of West Tripura, emphasized the goal of the drill: “This is about testing Tripura’s readiness for any emergency—be it a natural disaster or an enemy attack. We’re focusing on alert systems, evacuation processes, rescue coordination, and restoring essential services quickly.”

Administrative Involvement & Participants:
Organized by the Disaster Management Authority and Civil Defence Corps, the event saw enthusiastic participation from Tripura State Rifles, Home Guards, NCC, medical teams, fire services, and ‘Apda Mitra’ volunteers. Sirens were sounded in two phases—first at 4:00 PM and then again at 5:30 PM—as part of the staged simulation.

Officials reassured citizens that these drills are essential to strengthen public safety mechanisms. “Don’t panic—your cooperation helps us build a safer Tripura,” urged Dr. Kumar.
