Kolkata Law College Gangrape Case: A Horrific Crime that Shook the Nation
In a shocking and heartbreaking incident happened inside the college campus on June 25, 2025. The crime occurred inside the guard’s room of the college, located in the Kasba area of Kolkata, West Bengal.
What Happened?
According to police reports and CCTV footage, the survivor was forcibly dragged into the guard’s room by the accused. The assault was allegedly pre-planned after she rejected a marriage proposal from the main accused, Manojit Mishra, an alumnus of the college and reportedly linked with the Trinamool Congress youth wing.

CCTV footage clearly shows Mishra instructing two others to drag the woman into the room. Inside, the woman was gangraped while two of the accused filmed the crime to blackmail her later.
The Accused: Who Are They?
So far, four people have been arrested:
- Manojit Mishra – Main accused, college alumnus, and TMC youth member.
- Promit Mukherjee – Current student, filmed the assault.
- Zaid Ahmed – Current student, also involved in filming.
- The College Guard – Name not disclosed, but arrested for his involvement.
Medical and Police Confirmation
The survivor courageously filed an FIR on June 26, the very next day. She was later brought back to the college to help reconstruct the crime scene.
A medical examination confirmed gangrape, with physical evidence including bite marks, scratches, and signs of forceful penetration.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed, led by an Assistant Commissioner-rank officer, to ensure a thorough investigation.
