June 19, 2025 | Tripura 360 : In a heartwarming display of swift diplomacy and national responsibility, the Government of India has successfully launched “Operation Sindhu”, an emergency evacuation mission to bring home Indian students stranded in war-affected Iran.
As conflict between Israel and Iran escalated to dangerous levels, Indian nationals—especially students—found themselves in the middle of a crisis that threatened their safety and lives.

Operation Sindhu: Evacuated Over 100 Students
In the early hours of Thursday, June 19, the first evacuation flight carrying over 110 Indian students from Iran landed safely in New Delhi, following a well-coordinated ground transfer through Armenia. The students had earlier crossed into Armenia by road from Tehran with the help of the Indian Embassy.
Their experiences in Iran were chilling.
A Grateful Salute to India’s Swift Action
Despite the trauma, every student echoed gratitude toward the Indian government for its quick response. The embassy staff in Tehran worked round the clock, coordinating with Armenian authorities, who also extended support.
Back home, the emotional weight was felt just as deeply by the parents.
More Evacuations Underway: “We Have Planes Ready,” Says Government
Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh confirmed that this is just the first phase of Operation Sindhu.
“More people are being moved from Turkmenistan and Iran. Our missions are open 24×7. We are sending more planes,” he stated.
Students still stranded in Iran are being relocated to safer areas. Families across India are now urging the government to complete the mission and bring everyone back.
