By Tripura360 News Desk : To maintain order on city roads and prevent unauthorized route violations, the Tripura Transport Department has launched a new pink identity mark system for auto-rickshaws operating under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). This bold move is aimed at curbing the growing issue of route permit violations by auto-rickshaws entering the city from nearby subdivisions.

What’s the New Pink Identity Mark Rule?

According to Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, all registered city autos will now carry a pink identity mark on the front of the vehicle. This visual identity will help the traffic police and enforcement officers quickly spot and penalize violators who operate illegally within AMC limits.

“There were repeated complaints and rising tensions due to autos from outside subdivisions entering city limits without permits. This pink identity mark will bring clarity and control,” said Minister Chowdhury.

Who’s Affected?

  • Auto-rickshaws operating without AMC permits will be easily identified and fined.
  • School vans running without proper commercial registration will also face notices from the department.
  • City autos using highways for long-distance trips in search of extra earnings will be penalized, as three-wheelers are not suitable for highway travel, posing serious safety risks.

Exceptions to the Rule

Only in emergency situations like medical needs or air travel, vehicles from outside areas may enter the city — but they must carry valid proof to avoid fines.

Summary: Why This Matters

This move is a part of the government’s broader mission to ensure safer, regulated, and organized public transport in Agartala. The pink color tag not only helps track vehicle movement but also empowers authorities to crack down on violations more efficiently.
