In a bold step towards transforming India’s agricultural future, Tripura Chief Minister Prof.(Dr.) Manik Saha has thrown his full support behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of organic and sustainable farming. Speaking at the launch of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in Bishramganj, Sepahijala district, Dr. Saha emphasized that Tripura is currently cultivating over 5,500 hectares under natural farming, a move aligned with PM Modi’s eco-friendly agricultural roadmap.
“Sustainable farming isn’t just a trend—it’s our future. Tripura is proud to lead by example,” said Dr. Saha.
Innovation Meets Agriculture: Digital Krishi Mission 2024
At the heart of the event was the spotlight on Digital Krishi Mission-2024, a collaborative initiative between the state, NITI Aayog, and the Union Ministry of Agriculture. Leveraging artificial intelligence, this program aims to deliver personalized crop advisories, helping farmers make data-backed decisions to maximize yield and minimize risks.
Growth in Farmers’ Income & Government Support
Dr. Saha shared some eye-opening stats reflecting Tripura’s progress in the farming sector:
- Farmers’ income has doubled from ₹6,580 in 2015-16 to ₹13,590 in 2024-25, positively impacting 4.72 lakh farmers.
- Under PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, ₹843.64 crore has been disbursed.
- Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana has benefited farmers with ₹10.63 crore in crop insurance.
- Through the Kisan Credit Card scheme, nearly ₹2,200 crore has been distributed.
- 2.06 lakh soil health cards have been issued, and ₹204 crore granted in agri-machinery subsidies.
- ₹443 crore has been transferred via paddy procurement under MSP, ensuring timely support.
