Tripura Gets a Big Boost in Fish Farming

A major step is being taken to support fish farmers, Tripura gets a big boost in fish farming. On May 18, 2025, Union Minister Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh will inaugurate a Fish Festival in Agartala and lay the foundation stone of a ₹42.4 crore Integrated Aquapark at Kailashahar.

This project is part of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and aims to help fishers and small fish businesses grow.

What Will the Aquapark Do?

The Aquapark is a special centre where many fish-related services will be available in one place:

This setup will help youth and women find jobs and start businesses in the fisheries sector.

Why Tripura?

Tripura is a fish-loving state with people eating over 29 kg of fish per person each year. In the last 10 years, the state has received ₹319 crore for fishery projects under PMMSY and Blue Revolution.
