Agartala, December 17, 2025:
Chief Minister Professor (Dr) Manik Saha on Wednesday said that the Tripura government is making continuous efforts to ensure that every Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in the state becomes financially self-reliant.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing a review meeting of the Tripura Forest Development and Plantation Corporation (TFDPC) held at the Secretariat conference hall.

Focus on Modern Thinking and Market-Based Production

Dr Manik Saha stressed that for PSUs to become financially strong, they must adopt new ideas in product manufacturing and marketing. He said products should be developed in line with current market demand and changing times.

He added that TFDPC, like other PSUs, must take timely and practical decisions to improve its performance and sustainability.

Use of Local Raw Materials Can Boost Economy

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of using locally available raw materials to produce a wide range of quality products.

“If PSUs become profitable, they will create more employment opportunities. Quality products can also generate demand outside the state,” he said.

Emphasis on Rubber-Based Industries

During the discussion, Dr Manik Saha also underlined the need to explore the possibility of setting up a tyre manufacturing unit in Tripura. He said the state government is already working actively to promote rubber cultivation, rubber production, and rubber-based industries, which can play a key role in economic growth.

Ministers and Senior Officials Present

Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma, who was present at the meeting, advised officials to focus on skill development of TFDPC employees and to resolve existing issues through timely and effective measures.

The meeting was also attended by TFDPC Chairman and MLA Pramod Reang, Chief Secretary J K Sinha, Chief Minister’s Secretary Dr P K Chakraborty, Agriculture and Finance Secretary Apurba Roy, TFDPC Managing Director A S Konfade, along with other senior officials.

Key Takeaway

The Tripura government’s renewed push to strengthen PSUs through innovation, quality production, and industrial expansion reflects its broader goal of economic self-reliance and job creation in Tripura.
