According to the Minister, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has always prioritized the development of the Northeast. He mentioned that every Union Minister has been directed to focus on this region’s progress. Over the last 10 years, Tripura has shown impressive development in fisheries, growing from 3.7 lakh tonnes in 2013-14 to 6.4 lakh tonnes recently.
The minister also shared national figures, stating that India’s fish production has nearly doubled from 96 lakh tonnes in 2013–14 to 184.02 lakh tonnes in 2023–24. This was made possible after the central government separated fisheries and animal husbandry from agriculture, allowing focused policy decisions.
The Integrated Aqua Park will provide all essential services like hatcheries, feed mills, cold storage, training, and marketing under one roof. The government aims to complete it quickly so that local communities can start benefiting from it soon.
