Agartala | Monday, December 29, 2025: In a powerful display of rural women’s entrepreneurship, the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has announced a historic milestone. The TRLM SHG Didis Saras Fair Sale have shattered all previous records by registering a staggering sale of ₹17.67 crores at the recently concluded Regional Saras Fair 2025, held at the International Fair Ground in Hapania.

This significant jump from last year’s sale of ₹12 crore highlights the growing demand for indigenous products and the rising marketing prowess of Tripura’s women-led Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

From Lakhpati to Millionaire: A New Vision for Tripura

The TRLM SHG Didis Saras Fair Sale isn’t just about the numbers; it’s about a massive shift in the rural economy. During the event, TRLM officials revealed an ambitious roadmap to upgrade the state’s “Lakhpati Didis” (women earning over ₹1 lakh annually) into “Millionaire” and even “Crorepati” entrepreneurs.

To achieve this, TRLM is set to sign a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kolkata. This partnership will provide the much-needed handholding, branding, and conceptual support to turn local SHG ventures into national-scale enterprises.

TRLM SHG Didis Saras Fair Sale: Innovative Products Steal the Show

Among the 400 stalls at the fair, several new and innovative products caught the eye of visitors. One of the biggest hits was “Khachuk Chocolate,” the state’s first large-scale chocolate brand produced by women SHG members from South Tripura. The brand reportedly earned ₹2.61 lakh within just 12 days of its debut, proving that Tripura’s traditional craftsmanship can successfully compete in the modern food market.

Government Support and Institutional Growth

TRLM authorities expressed their deep gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for his unwavering support of the mission. Currently, Tripura boasts over 54,263 SHGs involving nearly 4.68 lakh households. Out of these, 1.08 lakh women have already achieved the “Lakhpati Didi” status.

The success of the 2025 fair has paved the way for more specialized events. TRLM has already announced the launch of the first-ever Food Saras Fair in January 2026, which will exclusively feature thousands of SHGs dealing in organic food and processed goods.

The Human Impact: Real Stories of Empowerment

For the thousands of women who traveled from remote blocks like Rupaichari and Karbook to Agartala, the fair was more than a market—it was a platform for dignity. “We used to only sell raw materials, but today we are selling finished, branded chocolates and handicrafts,” said a member of a local SHG.

As the curtains fall on this record-breaking edition, it is clear that the women of Tripura are no longer just beneficiaries of schemes—they are the drivers of the state’s economic future.
