Tripura Weather Alert: Extremely Heavy Rainfall Predicted from 28–31 May | Govt Issues Urgent Advisory

Tripura weather is on high alert as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast Heavy to Extremely Heavy Rainfall across the state from May 28 to May 31, 2025. In response, the Tripura Revenue Department has issued a high-priority advisory to all district administrations, urging swift preparedness and public awareness.
What’s Causing This?
The extreme weather is due to a low-pressure area forming over the Northwest Bay of Bengal, near the Odisha coast. This weather system is expected to trigger intense downpours, accompanied by squally to gusty winds across all eight districts of the state.

- Unakoti
- North Tripura
- Sepahijala
- Gomati
- South Tripura
All District Magistrates and Collectors have been directed to:
- Activate emergency services including NDRF, SDRF, TSR, and Fire personnel
- Deploy trained volunteers in vulnerable areas
- Keep rescue gear (boats, life jackets, etc.) on standby
- Regularly monitor local conditions and report updates

- Avoid unnecessary travel
- Stay tuned to official weather and safety updates
- Follow local administration’s instructions strictly
- Report emergencies promptly
Deputy Secretary C.K. Malsom, in the official communication, stressed the importance of “immediate action and continuous monitoring.”
